WIF GAME RESULTS -- CHAMPIONSHIP NIGHT
AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Anderson/Luers 11, Fisher/Fossen 4
Undefeated Anderson/Luers trailed 1-0 and 3-2, but took a 6-2 lead after
two innings and never let up in an 11-4 defensive struggle to win the American League
Championship. Trevor Fisher started a two-out rally for FF in the first, and after a Brett
Ripley single, Fisher scored on Brady Schnabel's error to give his squad the early
advantage. AL responded as expected, as Chris Mangan and Eric Titze both singled, then
Zane Erickson singled home Mangan and Titze came around on an error for a 2-1 AL lead
after one. In the second, singles by Jenny Sampson and Brian Pope each ended up being
runs, as Brian Hylle's fielder's choice scored Sampson, and Pope scored on an error, FF
leading 3-2. Anderson/Luers again came back, as Amanda Hammer tied the game at three with
a leadoff homer in the bottom of the 2nd. After two straight outs, Mangan singled and
Harry Decker hit a two-run blast, followed by Eric Titze's blast, and AL led 6-3 lead.
Fisher/Fossen grabbed one in the top of the 4th, but Eric Titze's two-run homer in the
bottom half put AL up 8-4, and the game was all but over. AL added three in the sixth to
finish the deal, as the AL won the AL.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Iverson/Flyger 8, Hall/Tobin 7
In a game that saw five lead changes, it was James Berreth's sixth-inning
two-run shot that broke open a tie game and gave Iverson/Flyger an 8-7 win and the NL
title. Hall/Tobin loaded the bases in the top of the 1st with no one out, but only a run
scoring on an error allowed HT to get anything. Shawn Ludemann's two-run homer capped a
three-run IF first, and a 3-1 lead for the No. 1 seed in the NL. They added another in the
second, a 4-1 advantage. HT scrapped back though, three straight singles, scored three
runs, two unearned, to tie the game. Lucas Jeanotte stepped up in the fourth with a
two-run blast into the bleachers in right, giving HT a 6-5 lead that held through the end
of four. The fifth saw Ludemann lead off with a single and come around to score, tying the
game into the sixth. IF rolled a double play, then Ashley Richter reached on an error.
That became huge, because with two outs Berreth's stroke scored two unearned runs and put
Iverson/Flyger ahead 8-6. Brock Heying led off the HT seventh with a homer, and Jeanotte
got a two-out single, but HT couldn't get him around.

WIFFLEBALL INTRAMURAL FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Anderson/Luers 14, Iverson/Flyger 12
Preseason No.'s 1 and 2, the squads that never met, the two teams that
everyone wanted to see matched up met Thursday night for the Parker Knox Championship
Trophy in the inaugural Wiffleball Intramural Federation Championship, with Anderson/Luers
clawing back and capitalizing on Iverson/Flyger's mistakes in a 14-12 championship win. IF
seemed poise for the upset early, as they were the visiting team and got on top early,
Shawn Ludemann's three-run homer capped a four-run first, and AL left the bases loaded and
didn't score in the first. In the second, Kade Anderson hit a two-run blast, then James
Berreth hit a solo shot for give IF a 7-0 lead. It began to fall apart in the bottom of
the 2nd, though. Amanda Hammer's ground ball was booted by Sheridan Cronin, Hammer got to
second. Two straight lineouts to James Berreth appeared to have IF out of trouble, even
moreso when Lindsey Luers' lazy flyball went sailing towards Chris Iverson. But the NL MVP
dropped it. Chris Mangan then knocked a three-run homer, Harry Decker singled, and Eric
Titze homered to cut the deficit to 7-5 after two. AL struck again in the fourth, as Titze
drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, then Zane Erickson hit a two-run shot to give AL an 8-7
lead. Iverson/Flyger responded, as Berreth hit a solo homer, then Sheridan Cronin had a
two-run blast and a 10-8 lead. AL then turned it up again one final time. With two outs
and one on, Luers again hit a fly ball to left, this one hitting the white monster and AL
tied the game at ten. Chris Mangan's single was follwed by Harry Decker's homer, a 12-10
AL lead. Repeat the process with Titze's one-bagger and Pat Anderson's bomb put his squad
up 14-10. In the top of the 6th, Iverson/Flyger didn't die, as Ashley Dunwoody got on
thanks to an error and managed to get to third on the play. After a popout, Kade
Anderson's fly to center got a run home, 14-11. Berreth singled and moved to second, then
scored on Iverson's single, 14-12. Ludemann singled, setting the table for Cronin, who
homered his last time up. Cronin popped out though, but AL went 1-2-3. The 7th inning hit,
three outs to decide the champion, down two runs IF had one last chance. Brandon King's
one-out single brought the tying run ot the plate in Ashley Richter, who reached on an
error. Kera Olson grounded out, with runners on the corners and two outs Dunwoody came up
and hit a solid grounder in the hole, but Pat Anderson made the pitch to Hammer to
preserve the WIF Championship.
